CCHS School Counseling Program

As a vital part of the total educational program, the mission of the Christopher Columbus High School school counseling program is to strongly advocate for the overall success of all students in the areas of academic, career and social/personal development. In collaboration with staff,
parents and the local community, the Christopher Columbus High School school counselor program will empower students with the necessary resources to be capable and compassionate learners while being valuable and contributing citizens in our diverse global world.

PHILOSOPHY


Christopher Columbus High School school counselors believe each student is a unique individual encompassing specific needs and talents. We understand the importance of positive growth through supporting the individual in the areas of academics, social/emotional issues and career/college planning. We believe the school counseling program is a crucial part in planning and implenting programs that help meet the needs of all our students.


BELIEFS

To best implement the School Counseling Program in Christopher Columbus High School, the school counselors are committed to the following:


We believe that each student is unique and has the ability to be successful through strong support and collaboration among staff, parents and community members.
We have a responsibility to provide our culturally diverse population with services that are accessible to all.
Our program is aligned with local, state, and national standards and policies, and is designed to meet the academic, career and personal/social needs of each student
