Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to the Christopher Columbus High School Home Page. It is our hope that the information provided will help you to learn about the outstanding programs, activities, events and staff that make Christopher Columbus High School "The School of Choice for the Northeast Bronx."

As we begin the 2003-2004 school year, we are especially proud of being selected as the recipient of the Sieman's Award For Advanced Placement, our College Now Program, our University of Vermont/JetBlue Airlines partnership, our China Exchange Program, and our theme-based Academies and Houses which have served as guiding structures in our school for the past six years. Students elect to join "The Law and Justice House," "The Communications and Media House," "The Computer, Business and Technology House," "The Math/Science Institute," "The Globe International House," "The Pathfinders House" "The College Now House" and "The Pelham Prep Academy." These smaller learning communities provide students with support networks, instructional teams and settings that enable students to meet success in an otherwise large urban high school.

We are also very proud of the numerous outstanding programs and activities which have been part of the "Tradition of Excellence" that has existed at Christopher Columbus High School for over 60 years. Our Music and Drama Program, our Advanced Placement/College Preparatory Program, our Athletic Program, our Leadership Academy and a varied Student Activities Calendar combine to make Columbus High School a true "School of Choice."

Click through the many links of our Home Page. Read the Principal's Newsletter. Keep up with the Weekly Calendar. Avail yourself of the After School Tutoring and Parents' Program. Find out about he Parents' Association and the School Leaderhsip Team. Visit our departmental, subject and extracurricular offerings.

Absorb Columbus! Send us your comments. We look forward to hearing from you.

I wish you all a successful, academic school year.
